Critical mass for April Sunday, April 19, 2009, 11:15 pm

Received from Eric Brozell:

Hello to All,

Critical mass is something that is practiced around the world on the last Friday of the month. If you have ever bicycled in a place that has gotten a name for THE place to bicycle in, that all started with a few people doing these type of things. Help to make Erie THE place to bicycle in. Come and join us.

Lifelong bicyclist

Can you believe that the last Friday in April is almost already upon us? How quickly the month has passed!

Last month's critical mass had a very nice turn out. We didn't get a complete head count, but I would say approximately 40 riders participated. I saw many new faces, which means the word is getting around and interest is growing. I would like to see new riders at each event, as well as past riders continuing to join. This is the only way our numbers will grow! A lot of the new riders had mentioned that they would be spreading the word to their friends and family, as they really seemed to of enjoyed themselves.

Riders of all ages, sizes, and experience levels are welcome. We would love to have you ride together with us whether you have a road bike, mountain bike, BMX bike, unicycle, tandem bicycle, or a penny-farthing.

Now is the time of the year when we need to make vehicles the most aware of bicycles. As the weather grows nicer, more and more cyclists will take to the roads. Whether as a form of transportation, exercise, or hobby. We will also begin to see cycling increase in our famous tourist destinations. So let's make Erie a safer place to cycle for everyone! Join the critical mass and spread bicycle awareness and safety, and promote cycling as a legitimate form of transportation in the city of Erie.
