From Dave Delozier:
Register now for Saratoga County's Bike to Work Challenge
Maybe you've been looking to squeeze more exercise into your day, or perhaps the slow, but steady rise of gas prices is starting to feel oppressive. Whatever the reason, now is the time to sign up for the Saratoga County Bike to Work Challenge. The Saratoga Healthy Transportation Network is sponsoring the “First Annual” Saratoga Bike To Work Challenge. Companies with offices/workplaces in Saratoga County are encouraged to form Bike To Work Teams for Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 15th 2009.
A company/organization is permitted to form multiple teams. Trophies will be given to teams participating in the Challenge with the highest percentage of total employee participation. Businesses with less than ten employees will compete for a trophy, and Your browser may not support display of this image.teams from employer groups larger than ten will have a chance to win the coveted “Gear Head” trophy. The winning Team can proudly display the trophy in their office until it is forfeited to next year's winner. The Gear Head Trophy is now on display at Elevate Cycles, 35 Van Dam St., in Saratoga Springs. Stop in and check it out!
To participate in the Bike to Work Day Challenge, commuters agree to cycle to a work site located within the county or cycle to a CDTA bus transit stop within the county as the first phase of their commute. CDTA has a bike rack on the front of each bus that will accommodate two bicycles. This event is the perfect opportunity for commuters to try a low-cost, green option,” said Dave Delozier, coordinator for SHTN's Bike to Work Challenge. “Plus, it's a great way to add a fitness routine into your lifestyle.”
All registered participants will receive an ice cream cone certificate from Stewart's Shops! In Saratoga Springs, a free breakfast will be available for anyone who walks, rides or takes public transportation to work. Stop by the table in front of the Arts Center at Spring St. and Broadway from 7-9AM
To participate, go to www.healthytransportation.org, where you can register yourself and your team through the link provided. You'll also find a poster that is available to download. Form a team - ask friends and workmates to register online, then get on your bikes and ride!!
