With spring in the air, South Bend, Mishawaka, and the Bike Michiana Coalition, announce 2010 Bike-to-Work Week, May 24 - May 28. The National and Indiana bike to work week is in May, however it will be celebrated later in Michiana to take advantage of the weather.
We urge everyone to Bike-to-Work or try cycling for fun, fitness or transportation.
From the 2009 website:
- Total miles ridden to work: 16,179
- That means we saved around 770 gallons of gas!(According to the EPA, the US average mileage is 21 mpg)
- Or, if you think of the price of gas at $2.61/gal, we saved $1,885.15 this week by riding to work.
- We also saved approximately 14,938 pounds of CO2 emission by riding rather than driving.
