Bank’s Chestnut Street Café to Host Free Events for Bikers

WHAT: With Spring in the air, there is no better time for Chicagoans to get outdoors and tone up their physical and financial fitness. ING DIRECT USA – the nation’s largest direct bank – wants to help by encouraging Chicagoans to bike to work.

As part of the Active Transportation Alliance’s annual Bike to Work Week, our Chestnut Street Café is gearing up for a week-long celebration to recognize bikers for choosing a healthy and money saving mode of transportation.

From June 12-18, ING DIRECT’s Café will host free events for area bikers to learn more about innovative bike products, bike safety, repair and donations, in addition be entered for the chance to win bike-related prizes.

Events at the Café will include:

  • June 16: Blue City Cycles will be in the Café from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., offering free bike adjustments, quick fixes, and advice on overall bike maintenance.
  • June 17: Saver, meet Biker. Biker, meet Saver. An after work bike celebration will take place from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring music, food, refreshments and various guest speakers from local bicycle non-profits. Enter a raffle drawing for a chance to win a Marin bicycle and other bike gear.
  • The non-profit Working Bikes will be at the Café throughout Bike to Work Week collecting bikes for donation and showing off ways to use bikes to create power and energy.
  • Bikers commuting to work can enjoy a free ‘biker breakfast’ every morning from 7 to 10 a.m. Bikers will receive a free coffee, pastry and savvy savings tips compliments of the ING DIRECT Café.

Free Chicago bike route maps will be available at the Café.
